Dental Emergency Costs in Geneva: What to Expect
Transparent guide to emergency dental costs in Geneva, Switzerland. What is covered by insurance, typical prices, and how to avoid hidden fees.
One of the most common questions we receive is about costs. Dental treatment in Switzerland has a reputation for being expensive, and dental emergencies can feel particularly stressful when you do not know what to expect financially.
At our Geneva clinic, we always provide a written quote before beginning any treatment. There are no hidden fees and no surprises. Here is what you can typically expect to pay.
Emergency consultation (including X-rays): from CHF 150. This covers a full examination, panoramic or periapical X-ray, diagnosis, and treatment planning. This is the starting price for all emergency visits.
Toothache treatment: from CHF 200. Depends on the cause and required intervention.
Broken tooth repair / temporary crown: from CHF 250-350.
Lost filling replacement: from CHF 200.
Dental abscess drainage: from CHF 300.
Tooth extraction: from CHF 250.
Root canal treatment: from CHF 800, depending on the tooth.
Surcharges: Evening appointments (after 20:00): +CHF 65. Sunday and public holiday appointments: +CHF 45.
Regarding insurance: basic Swiss health insurance (LaMal) does not cover dental treatment. However, most complementary dental insurance (assurance dentaire complémentaire) covers a percentage of emergency treatments. We provide all necessary documentation for reimbursement.
If you are an expat with international health insurance or employer-provided dental coverage, we can provide English-language receipts and documentation for your claim.
